It is once again time to start gearing up for our annual Cinco de Mayo Festival, which will be held on Saturday, May 9th, at Falls Park.
I am writing to invite any students to participate in our Cinco de Mayo T-shirt contest. If any of your Spanish Club members or upper-level Spanish students are artistic and would like to submit a design, please give them the attached flyer with the instructions. [Ask me and I will print a copy for you!]
Designs are due by Monday, March 2nd and should express a fun, family-centered holiday celebration. Previous designs that have been popular are piñatas, chihuahuas, dancers, and other colorful, cheerful artwork.
This is a great way for students to get involved with the Latino community, as well as the broader SF community. Over 250 volunteers will wear the winning design, and the winner will also receive a $50 gift card and prize basket.
All proceeds from the festival go toward supporting the Caminando Juntos ministry, which provides educational programming, immigration legal services, community resources and orientation for 1500 Latino immigrants per year.
